Imagine director Tyler Perry making a Marvel or DC film. The filmmaker said that he has had discussions with both Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures about taking on directorial duties for a superhero movie.

Perry, who has been involved in all stages of his film productions, from writing to directing to producing and acting, reprises his role in the recently released "Boo 2! A Medea Halloween." It seems that he fits into the mold of what Marvel and Warner Bros. are looking for to helm their superhero movies.

In a conversation with ScreenRant, Perry detailed what went down during his meetings with the two giant film companies.

"I've had a couple of conversations, but I would always say, 'I'm not the guys to do this' ... That doesn't work for me. I saw that in a couple of sci-fi movies that I've been a part of and I think, 'Uhh, I'm not doing that,'" the director explained.

It's an admirable trait of Perry to be honest about what sort of stories he gravitates to and it seems that these superhero movies clearly have a different vision from what he normally does. If anything, the success of his "Medea" franchise has proven Perry's gravitas about being an independent filmmaker. He has a deep knowledge of films not just from a financial standpoint but also in being able to consistently deliver what the audience wants.

Perry in his own right has been very successful. His "Medea" film franchise has been a massive hit with the moviegoers. Last year's release, "Boo! A Medea Halloween," earned almost $74 million in the United States against a budget of $20 million. It managed to open at the top of the movie charts beating the Tom Cruise movie "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back."

While fans might not see Perry directing the next hit superhero film, the director has appeared in a couple of genre films such J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot back in 2009.
