An Argentinean radio show interview sparks rumors about the release of the long-awaited "The Last of Us 2." Now fans believe the game's sequel is arriving in 2019.

Since publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed in December 2016 that the critically acclaimed game is getting a sequel, fans have been thirsting for any information that will give them an idea about the new game.

This detail, though unverified, came via an interview with the game's music composer Gustavo Santaolalla. Talking to radio show Vorterix from his native Argentina, Santaolalla jokingly revealed that the sequel is coming out in 2019. He tried to take it back later on, but it was already too late.

"No I don't know exactly when it will come out, but a project like this usually takes at last two years to make. I've been working on it now for about a year, and after my last concert at the 28th of October, I will be traveling to LA to keep working on the game," he said.

While Santaolalla's estimate is far from definitive, fans who have been waiting awhile for the sequel have chosen to consider it a fact.

But right now, the only things known for sure are those revealed in the trailer and the official statement that came with it. "The Last of Us 2" will continue the story of Joel and Ellie in post-apocalyptic North America. It will be set some years later, as Ellie looks a bit older. Also, she's angry and out for blood.

"I am going to kill every last one of them," she says in the video.

When it was announced, developer Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann clarified that the game was still in its early stages but promised fans that it will be "an epic journey."

There's a high chance, however, that Sony will officially reveal more details about the game at the 2018 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) press conference. Until then, fans can only speculate.
