"The Gifted" is showing a lot of promise with a strong cast and an eerily realistic depiction of how society today would confront the mutant problem. FOX's new Marvel series also recently introduced a new mutant and it was glorious.

The show has focused on the Strucker family and the immediate members of the Mutant Underground. In the third episode titled "eXodus," the viewers met Sonia aka Dreamer, played by Elena Satine, who took the spotlight as she showed off her unique abilities and at the same time fleshed out her backstory.

In the comic version, Sonia is known as the Beautiful Dreamer, whose mutant ability is to emit a kind of dream smoke that alters the memories of anyone who inhales it.

Dreamer is a member of the mutant outcasts known as the Morlocks and her powers are strong enough for her to be able to put in false personalities within people, making them believe that they are someone they are not. Her powers are the type that can be easily used but not be taken lightly.

In "The Gifted," the Struckers and the Mutant Underground are trying to escape an anti-mutant mob. Blink, played by Jamie Chung, is the right person to provide them with an escape route with her portal-opening powers. The mutant was still affected by the catastrophe she created in the previous episode so Dreamer had to step in and used her powers on Blink.

Sonia exhaled her dream smoke and planted a false memory into Blink, making her believe that she was in a romantic relationship with Thunderbird (Blair Redford). This gave Blink the motivation and the emotional hold to open a portal and save everyone.

While Thunderbird was thankful, he is not happy with Dreamer using her powers on Blink, reminding her of what happened to their other members. This also complicates things between the three characters as Blink believes she is in love with Thunderbird who shares a romantic past with Dreamer. Only time will tell how this love triangle will play out.

"The Gifted" airs every Monday, 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
