The telltale signs that you are in need of a spiritual revival

Even those with strong Christian faith can be in need of spiritual revival from time to time. Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California said there are three questions people need to ask themselves if their spiritual lives are in need of a revival.

"Revival starts with you," he said, according to the Gospel Herald. "It starts with me in realizing that God wants to revive me personally. Before there can be a revival in the church, there must first be a revival in you."

Laurie then shared the three pivotal questions for self-reflection: Was there a time in your life when your passion for Christ was stronger? Was there a time when you read God's Word more faithfully, and got involved in church more? Lastly, did you make an effort to share the Gospel more in the past, or look for opportunities to engage other people in Jesus' message?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Laurie said it's a sign that people need spiritual revival. "These are signs of someone who has left their first love," he said, as he explained that revival is "waking up from sleep" and "waking up from sin."

"You know you are having a revival when you are hungry for God's word," he continued. "That's a good sign, if you are."

Laurie is not the only pastor who talked about the importance of spiritual revival. Evangelist Billy Graham also highlighted the people's need to thirst for God. He wrote in an advice column for The Kansas City Star that people who allow themselves to veer far away from God will pay a heavy price.

"Because when a nation abandons God, it also abandons living by God's moral standards. And once this happens, we could end up in moral anarchy and social chaos, in which everyone does what he or she wants to do, even if it hurts someone else," he said.
