Following the introductions of mutants like Pulse (Zach Roerig) in the previous episodes, as well as the Hounds and the Fenris twins (Paul Cooper and Caitlin Mehner) in the upcoming episode, another mutant is coming to "The Gifted." "Scream Queens" star Skyler Samuels has been cast as a mysterious telepath.

As revealed by Deadline, Samuels will play another mutant who seeks refuge in the Mutant Underground. Her character is a telepath with a mysterious past. A detail from Comingsoon.net reveals that her character's name is Esme.

Fans of the films and the comics would know that there are many mutants who have telepathic abilities, so there are so many guesses to whom Samuels might be playing on the show. Obviously, the famous telepaths like Emma Frost, Jean Grey, and Psylocke are ruled out as they appeared in the movies. So, this leaves other characters like Karma, the Stepford Cuckoos, or perhaps even Rachel Summers, a character whom has been widely speculated to appear on the show given the mention of the Hounds.

Then again, she might even be playing Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier's twin sister. Should Samuels be confirmed to play Cassandra Nova, she could definitely change things in the series. There are a lot of options overall.

Based from Samuels' character name, she might be playing Esme Cuckoo of the Stepford Cuckoos, quintuplets who have telepathic abilities and are the children of the previously mentioned Emma Frost.

The upcoming episode of "The Gifted," titled "threat of eXtinction," reveals that more refugees will stay at the Mutant Underground. However, the entire group is faced with a threat when they discover that one of them is a spy for Sentinel Services. As they try to uncover who among them is the mole, Reed (Stephen Moyer) visits his estranged father Otto (Raymond J. Barry) and learns that the secrets from his family's past could be used to their advantage.

"The Gifted" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on FOX.
