Summer celebration for church school children at Cathedral

The first ever diocesan service for Year Six children will be taking place at Christ Church Cathedral this Monday.

Around 370 children from Church of England schools in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire will attend the service, being held around the theme of 'Love is'.

Prior to the service, the children will take part in reflective activities at the cathedral.

"We will be responding to the theme of love in its four forms as made popular by CS Lewis," explained Robin Sharples, schools adviser to the Diocese of Oxford and organiser of the service.

The service will be joined by the Bishop of Oxford, the Right Reverend John Pritchard, and the Bishop of Buckingham, the Right Reverend Alan Wilson.

"The idea is to have an act of worship celebrating their role as church schools within the family of the diocese," Sharples continued.

"It's the first time we have done it and it's very exciting. It's the first time we have done it and it's very exciting. The schools that are coming have been very enthusiastic about it."
