It is still unknown if William Shatner will morph into his legendary Captain Kirk character again in the upcoming "Star Trek 3" movie in 2016, but fans were already treated with the assurance of a thrilling film that will "blow people away," all in the hands of Bob Orci.

The 41-year old director was part of previous "Star Trek" films, namely "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Into The Darkness" as J.J. Abrams's co-writer and also producer. In the third installment, Orci will take on the directorial duties, while Abrams works on "Star Wars: Episode 7." Orci is also notable for his writing feat in the film "The Amazing Spiderman 2" which stars Andrew Garfield.

"In this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen," Orci revealed via Fashion & Style. "They have set off on their five-year mission.".

Some of the cast members set to reprise their roles in the third title have only words of admiration for the new director that will come to the Star Trek set. Karl Urban (Bones), Simon Pegg (Montgomery Scott) and John Cho (Hikaru Sulu) are confident that Orci's fine work will be further transpired in the film now that he will be sitting in the director's chair. And as Urban put it, "(Star Trek 3) is going to be phenomenal" and "it's going to rock."

"Bob's been there since the first Star Trek - by that I mean the 2009 one - so it seemed to make perfect sense that he come in as a director on this one because he gets it. He was always the most Trekkie of all of those guys anyway, he's always understood the story the best so it's great that he's going to be involved in the writing and directing," Pegg answered in a BBC interview when asked about Orci.

"I'm absolutely confident in Bob. No one knows these characters better than Bob. And no one knows the Star Trek universe better than Bob. I think he's going to blow people away," Cho stated through Reddit.

No more details about the plot line were revealed other than Orci's hints of the cast setting off for a five-year mission while they get closer to deep space.

"Star Trek 3" is slated for release in 2016.
