Scotland: Heart & Soul 2004 5th July - 11th July

Hundreds of young people are bringing the love of God to the streets of Glasgow in Scotland. Starting this week, Monday to Friday 5th-11th July, Heart & Soul delegates will bring all kinds of different programmes and projects to impact the Heart of the city by bringing hope to many Souls.

A marquee on Bellahouston Park has been set up for the whole week, this will be the main base for Heart & Soul. Delegates will live radically and serve communities in the city by day and there will be great events in the park each night.

Each Morning, there will be training with times of worship and life changing teachings. It will be a great opportunity to find out and demonstrate that there are no limits to what God can do in a life that is given fully to Him.

In the Afternoon from 2pm to 5pm, all of the delegates will be involved in practical community projects across the city which include youth workshops in inner city areas (e.g. dance, football, crafts); asylum seekers support; sorting donated clothes and visiting; clean-up projects (e.g. park areas, graffiti); cafe; children's club; putting window boxes up for the elderly.

Saturday 10th July is set to be a fabulous day for everyone, there will be great music, great messages, a skatepark, a children's area, food. Between 2-4pm there will be a huge Family Extravanganza followed immediately by the Heart & Soul Party in the Park until 10pm. This 6 hour party includes sets by the following bands: Acquitted, Audiogene, Luma, Scott Nicol, Six Star Hotel, The Tribe & Yfriday.

Inspector Tom Halbert, Youth Issues, Strathclyde Police wishes Heart and Soul every success, "While I agree that a minority of young people are troublesome and destructive in communities, most are not, although unfortunately they are often portrayed as such. We need to raise the value of young people and I believe that 'Heart and Soul 2004' will help us do just that in the city of Glasgow. Young people will become involved in projects across the city and they will be able to take part in something very worthwhile as they enjoy themselves and make new friends. I wish Heart and Soul every success."

A similar project in Manchester has seen incredible results as teenage crime has dropped, and been sustained, streets have been made safer, community spirit has grown and kids have reclaimed their hope. This is the same vision of the Heart & Soul.
