Actress Annabeth Gish becomes the latest addition in the cast of "Scandal" season 5.

The former "The X-Files" and "Sons of Anarchy" star has been tapped to portray a recurring role in ABC's hit political drama starring Kerry Washington, according to Deadline.

There are no word yet regarding the character she will portray in the series, but there are speculations that she will appear as one of Olivia's clients in the upcoming episodes. She is also believed to be involved in Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) campaign for the national elections.

Gish also has a recurring role in Freeform's "Pretty Little Liars" as well as in the revival season of "The X-Files."

Meanwhile, actor Tony Goldwyn revealed what's in store for the second half of "Scandal" season 5 during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the actor, the six-month time jump will create a huge impact on the plot of the show as well as in the life of his character President Fitzgerald Grant.

"We find Fitz completely alone and struggling with life on his own and sort of viciously estranged from Mellie, although they're trying to co-parent," the actor revealed. "And Fitz and Olivia are not in contact. It's very difficult for him to be alone. He's leaning very heavily on Abby and really focusing on work. But he's been a bit of a monk for six months and has never been alone — he's not good at it."

Goldwyn also mentioned that all characters are heading towards a different direction when the series returns for the second half of the season. He revealed that Olivia will be in a new and interesting place, while his ex-wife Mellie is preparing to run for the U.S. presidency.

"Scandal" season 5 returns on ABC with the episode titled "It's Hard Out Here for a General" on Thursday, Feb. 11.
