San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin played a great game and helped lead the team to their first win this season– while carrying a heavy heart due to his son's death just a few hours earlier.

The 49ers won against the New York Giants 31-21 after Goodwin scored a touchdown, the Daily Mail reported. He caught a pass from 49ers quarterback CJ Beathard and scored a touchdown, kneeling after he secured the victory.

Following the win, Goodwin admitted to everybody that his family had just experienced a great loss: his and his wife Morgan's son died just a few hours before the victory.

In an Instagram post, Goodwin said that due to complications during Morgan's pregnancy, their son had to be delivered prematurely.

"Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am," he said in the post.

Despite the loss, Goodwin still thanked God for his wife, who also endured such pain.

"Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan," he said in his post. "The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable."

Morgan also showed remarkable strength and faith, sharing on Instagram that 'God had other plans for us.'
