Resources launched for The Bible TV series' UK broadcast

Actor Nonso Anozie was on hand to launch the resources for the UK broadcast of The Bible this winter.

Anozie starred as Samson in the hit TV mini series, created by husband and wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.

The series amassed over a hundred million viewers when it aired in the US earlier in the year and is set to hit British TV screens via Channel 5 this December.

While actor Keith David narrated the original miniseries, the UK version will be narrated by Robert Powell, who starred in Jesus of Nazareth, the 1978 version of The Thirty-Nine Steps, Holby City and The Detectives.

Anozie, who has had roles in Conan the Barbarian, The Grey and Game of Thrones, joined the team from Damaris Trust to launch the official resources website - www.thebibleuk.org

Nonso said: "I want to help make The Bible series something that draws everyone together to talk about the Bible. I don't want it just to sing to the choir."

Nick Pollard, co-founder of Damaris, which created the resources, said he wanted people to "make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a fully inclusive national event".

Nonso signed some of the official posters which will now be provided to community organisations for use as prizes for competitions built around the series.

Any community group is invited to request one from promotion@thebibleuk.org.
