Rapper Andy Mineo sparked a debate on social media when he asked his fans if it's acceptable for Christians to use curse words.

"Do you guys really think if a person uses 'profanity' (words we've given meaning) in their music they couldn't possibly be Christian? Why?" he asked on Twitter account (@AndyMineo).

Most of his followers thought that it's wrong for Christians to use profanity. "We are called to be set apart. When I curse, it's always in unrighteousness anger and not glorifying," someone wrote.

Another added: "Using profanity is the ways of the world. It will be hard for those who are lost to feel like we are different."

Despite all the replies he received, Mineo got fired up with the comments made by a user named Seth, who wrote: "Well the tongue is 'full of poison.' Let me ask this, if a preacher uses profanity on the stage what would that look like?"

Mineo said it "would depend on the context he used it in. The words in and of themselves are not evil but their intentions can be."

He added that curse words are also subjective to their users. "We have deemed certain words profane—how? Why isn't 'SHARP' considered 'profane?'" he questioned.

Seth replied by saying that he gets where Mineo is coming from, but said "in the end it's how you use your words, either for good or evil, life or death."

Mineo replied, "Your idea of Christianity is black and white. One day you'll understand there is grey & it's ok."

A different follower named Francis used a sarcastic tact to make his point: "Christians are only allowed to say words that are written in the bible... in the original languages."

The rapper thought it was hilarious since he shared back a laughing emoticon.
