R. Kelly's transgender son: 'Reading the Bible will not change how I truly feel inside'

The biological daughter of R Kelly identifies as a boy, and maintains that reading the Bible will not change that.

Jay Kelly, 14, frequently answers questions from supporters and dissenters on his Ask.fm page, and was told in one post that he needed to read the Bible to get a right perspective on his gender identity.

But Kelly is adamant that this will not make any difference to him feeling like a boy, even though he was born a girl.

The online conversation occurred on July 10, when one person wrote: "God is against gay people are you f****** stupid like read the bible that's what you need to do. You all over the internet, YOU ARE A TRANS GENDER a female that is now a boy. God doesnt [sic] respect people like you so stop trying to be something your [sic] not."

Kelly, born Jaya, responded: "Some say I am quite smart.  And reading the bible will not change how I truly feel inside. I am going to be myself whether you tell me if it's wrong or right, because i just think it's human."

In an Ask.fm post three days earlier, Kelly revealed that his parents put him in therapy when he began to transition.

"Did yo [sic] parents put you in therapy when you started to transition??? be real," one person asked him.

"I went to counciling [sic], but it didn't help me," Kelly responded.

The teen opened up about being transgender last month, saying that he has identified as a boy since the age of "6 or 7" years old and has a girlfriend.

"I believe I am a boy and want surgery, and the medication to help me who I was supposed to be," he wrote.

He said his mother, Andrea Kelly, is supportive of his decision and refers to him as her son.

R&B singer R Kelly has given a more guarded public response.

"Always believe what you see with your own eyes," he told WCGI last month when asked his reaction to Jay's announcement. "Always believe what you see. That is the best way to go about this business.

"And I've heard a lot of things about a lot of people and it was never true. You gotta know there's a back story. There's a background. That's why you can't judge nobody."
