This Wednesday will see Christians gathering together in Parliament to celebrate the continuation of the 'Joining the Dots' movement, which developed out of the National Day of Prayer and Worship held in September 2012.

Some 32,000 Christians met together in Wembley Stadium to unite in prayer for the nation, after which the movement began a tour of the UK, meeting with churches all over the country to encourage and equip them to pray for their communities and 'join the dots'.

"Through this process, we have realised that we have been called to lead and to stand with people where they are, to get on the road and support the church in the community," the team behind the movement say.

The gathering in Parliament on Wednesday will celebrate the second year of Joining the Dots, praising God for his work so far and petitioning him for the year to come.

Particular emphasis will also be put on prayer for those affected by extreme flooding across the UK.

The event will be led by Dr Jonathan Oloyede, Convenor of NDOPW, who has commended the efforts and impact of Joining the Dots so far, but says that there is more to come.

"Joining the Dots has been such an encouragement in 2013. Towns and cities uniting to prayer for their many needs has shown the best of the church in action. I believe there is more work to be done to keep this legacy alive," he said.

"I want to thank those in the church who have taken seriously again the call to prayer and look forward to seeing evangelism, mission and breakthrough in our communities.

Stephen Timms MP, Faith Envoy for the Labour Party, is to sponsor the Wedesday's celebration along with Gary Streeter, Chair of Christians in Parliament and David Burrowes, Chair of the Conservative Christian Fellowship.

Mr Timms said he was "delighted" to be involved, noting the momentum that is growing through "the legacy of prayer".

"I applaud the work of Dr Jonathan Oloyede and his team since their last Reception in Parliament," he said.

"Christians across the country, rooted in prayer, are putting their faith into action and contributing to transformation and renewal."
