Video game icon Pac-man still has what it takes to chomp away at victory, as "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" for the Nintendo Switch has been released today and has gotten stellar reviews.

Developer and publisher Bandai Namco has proven time and again that the classics never go out of style, though a few modifications are in order to keep the gameplay fresh. Such is the case for "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" that incorporates a lot of new and exciting additions to the excellent but simple gameplay formula pioneered by the first "Pac-man" game.

Nevertheless, "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" scores high per today's gaming standards in which it received a Metacritic critic Metascore of 80 based on 10 critic reviews that generally counts as a good game reception. Its user reviews leave quite a lot to be desired though since it only amounted to 6.9 based on nine user ratings, which generally counts as just average, perhaps even slightly below. This could still change once most reviews are done, however, and there are still quite a lot of unpublished reviews at the moment both from critics and users.

This is due to the fact that the game has just been released. So it will take a few days at the very least for the dust to settle, and only then can potential buyers and fans truly see how "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" scores for everyone who bought and played it.

The main selling point of the game being on the Switch is perhaps its multiplayer feature, in which Switch owners can invite their friends over to play one-vs-one matches using the controllers. As such, the game is best enjoyed with friends and relatives, though solo players can still find a lot to like in the game.

Basically, the core gameplay remains unchanged from the 1980s original. "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" differs is its new twists and additions such as different power-ups and other modes along with the simultaneous two-player mode not present in the original. "Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus" does its franchise justice and pays homage to the original while bringing the same level of challenge and fun to the younger generation.
