While rumors claiming that "One Punch Man" season 2 will feature Garou as the main force to challenge Saitama's strength, recent reports suggest that it is unlikely to be the case as the upcoming season of the popular anime series is said to feature King as its big bad instead.

There is no denying that "One Punch Man" season 2 is one of the most-anticipated TV events for 2017. Although the official release date of the anime remains unknown as of this writing, there have been numerous speculations on how its story may possibly pan out.

Among the many rumors attached to "One Punch Man" season 2, one that has persisted for months already is the one claiming that it will feature Garou as the main nemesis of Saitama in the upcoming season. Reportedly, it is in the hands of the said villain that Saitama will experience his first-ever defeat as the said human villain is equipped with the strength and powers that can withstand Saitama's iconic one-punch that causes the defeat of his opponents.

However, according to recent reports, it is possible that the upcoming season 2 of the popular anime series will not feature Garou as the major villainous force that Saitama will have to deal with; instead, the bald superhero will find himself challenging King, a class S rank 7 hero.

It has been learned that, in the manga version of "One Punch Man," the bout of Garou and Saitama is part of the "Human Monster" arc, and the said story arc happens after Saitama has already dealt with King. While there is still the possibility for Garou to appear in "One Punch Man" season 2, it is suspected that he will appear at the latter part of the anime series, and his battle with Saitama may even serve as the cliffhanger in the upcoming season 2. This means that the highly anticipated showdown of force between Saitama and Garou will be fully explored in "One Punch Man" season 3, and not in the upcoming season 2.

Meanwhile, despite the lack of announcement from Viz Media, rumors claiming that "One Punch Man" season 2 will finally arrive this July are also loud. If this is really the case, it will not take long for fans to find out whether the anime will, indeed, feature Garou or King as the series' big bad in its upcoming season.
