There have been some interesting developments in the One Piece series with the introduction last time round of the Im-sama, alternatively spelled as Imu-Sama.

He's a new character introduced to the Reverie arc and the mysterious man even sat in the Empty Throne, which is supposed to be empty, signalling that he is more powerful than all of the others in the World Government.  Not only does he have control over the Gorosei but also the Celestial Dragons and the Marines.  At the meeting with the Five Elders, he is asked which light he would like to see erased in the history next.

The fate of Luffy of the Strawhat Pirates, Marshall D. Teach of the Blackbeard Pirates, Princess Nefertari Vivi of Alabasta Kingdom, and Princess Shirahoshi of Ryugu Kingdom is hanging in the balance.

Inquisitr speculates that Im-sama may be the leader of the 20 bloodlines that took on the Ancient Kingdom back in the Void Century.

Last time, we were able to see that he had 'Rinnegan' eyes and went into a freezing cold room with a coffin inside that had a large straw hat on top of it.

One Reddit user speculates that the decision Im-Sama makes may lead to a great war and that Im-Sama may want to cleanse Wano.

Another Reddit user questioned what we are all now wondering: what is the connection with the straw hat?

'Im Sama being the true monarch of the world having that strawhat also makes the strawhat A LOT more interesting right now. What the hell could that be???? Was it the hat of the D who originally ruled he world? OP is really stepping it up with the mysteries,' they wrote.

YouTuber RogersBase thinks Im-sama may be the final villain of One Piece. He's clearly not a good guy but does that necessarily mean he's the final villain?  Opinion is split on that.

One YouTube user explained in the comments below the video that he wasn't convinced Im-sama is the final villain: 'I personally don't believe that Imu is a final villain for a lot of reasons. The strongest evidence of him not being a final villain is that Imu-sama seems to be of a certain class or race of people. One Piece tells us this over and over ,that certain classes stand on top thinking theyre better and this gets challenged. Be it the main character taking on tenryubito, yonkou etc, or even the revolutionaries who are opposed to the higher castes.'
