New faith-based film, Grace Unplugged

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are set to release a new faith-based film titled Grace Unplugged.

The lead actress is Amanda 'AJ' Michalka, better known as one half of the Christian pop duo Aly & AJ.

Also appearing in the film are worship veteran Chris Tomlin, Christian singer Jaimie-Grace, and American Idol season 10 finalist Pia Toscano.

AJ plays aspiring Christian singer-songwriter Grace Rose Trey. Her father is a former rock star who has given up his previous career and is now a worship leader in a church in small-town Alabama.

Grace dreams of becoming a pop star and goes to LA against her family's wishes but it's not as easy as she thinks when she leaves her Christian faith behind to focus on her ambitions of fame.

Production has just been completed and the US theatre release date is set for 4 October.

Lionsgate's Jason Constantine said: "We love Grace Unplugged, an entertaining story of a talented teenager rising in the music industry who gets a chance to achieve her dreams but realises in the process the importance of family and her faith.

"While the story is specific to the world of music, the themes are universal to every family in this inspiring movie."

Bill Hearn, chief executive of Capitol Christian Music Group said: "Grace Unplugged is the perfect film to showcase the power of music in our culture and the positive impact it can have on lives.

"We're thrilled to be the music and soundtrack partner with Lionsgate which allows us to offer powerful songs to enhance this incredible story of reconciliation."
