New conference for Christians in business

A new conference is to take place next year to encourage Christians in business.

Equipping to Succeed will take place at the High Leigh Conference Centre in Hoddesdon, Herts, on 26 and 27 March.

Contributors include entrepreneur Sir Peter Vardy, who sold the Reg Vardy car dealership group in 2006 for £506m, and Gary Grant, founder of The Entertainer chain of toy stores.

"Being involved in the commercial world can be especially difficult for Christians," said Paul Langham, of sponsors Bible Society.

"In today's challenging business environment it has never been more essential to take time out from the daily routine and be refreshed and inspired."

The two-day programme includes a choice of seminars on subjects like networking skills, time management and strategic planning.

Mr Langham continued: "With the economy in the doldrums finding effective strategies to stay in business and stay true to Christian values is essential, whether you are a Christian business or a Christian in business.

"We encourage Christians throughout the country to take time out to attend the Equipping to Succeed Business Networking Conference, to be resourced and inspired to face the challenges of today’s working environment."

Lord Michael Hastings, KPMG's first Global Head of Corporate Citizenship and now Vice President of UNICEF, will speak on profit and poverty.

The conference is organised by Christian Resources Together in partnership with Christian Resources Exhibitions.
