Netflix may find another streaming competitor in the form of Disney.

Recently, news broke out that Disney is developing its own streaming service and will be taking some of their titles currently in sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime by 2019. Aside from the shows currently airing on these streaming giants; other Disney contents like that of Lucasfilm's and Marvel Studios' will also be transferred to the proposed streaming channel. With Disney's big plan, will Netflix lose its hold on its current Marvel TV shows?

The Marvel/Netflix collaboration has given TV fans some of the best-crafted television shows from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it appears that the partnership will soon dissolve as Disney plans to dip its toes in the streaming game.

While it's been confirmed that all future Marvel TV shows will be exclusively shown on Disney's planned streaming portal, Netflix can breathe a sigh of relief that the shows currently being aired by them will stay on. Aside from that, any planned spin-off of those shows will also stay with Netflix. It only makes sense that Netflix will keep these shows as they helped in developing them, but it will be interesting to see if Disney will allow the shows to make future seasons or if they will give Netflix license to its characters for any planned spin-off.

Details on Disney's streaming project are still scant. One can only assume that its shows like "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will still air on free networks like ABC. With their planned streaming portal, will ABC hold the rights to stream the show on their service? This issue alone is complex enough as it is and will continue to be so once Disney's streaming project rolls out.

The news of Disney's plans to jump into the streaming market has been light and there has not been any planned logistics for it. While it is a logical step for Disney to house all of its properties in one streaming channel and probably gain streaming dominance, there is still something to be gained from keeping their partnership with Netflix alive. Fans will just have to wait see how this story develops.
