Missing Madeleine Photos Returned to Dad

Photos of missing Madeleine McCann have been returned to her family anonymously almost two weeks after they were stolen from her father on a trip to London.

Gerry McCann visited the UK last month for a series of meetings on the campaign to find his daughter Madeleine. The trip marked his second visit to the country since the four-year-old was kidnapped.

Mr McCann, 39, was said to be delighted yesterday at having two "irreplaceable" pictures of his abducted daughter back in his possession.

One picture is said to show Madeleine at 15-months-old, while another was taken in church shortly before her disappearance on 3 May.

The family issued an appeal for the return of the pictures after Mr McCann's wallet was taken by a pickpocket in London's Waterloo station hours after his arrival in the capital.

At the time his sister described the theft as a "demoralising" sign of the times and urged the thief to do the right thing.

It is now 59 days since Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, went missing from her hotel room in the Portuguese resort Praia da Luz while her parents were eating in a restaurant just 100 yards away.
