There will be massive cast shake-ups in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, with two series regulars getting little to no screen time in the new season of the superhero ensemble series.

Having defeated Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) and completing their ultimate goal, Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) will no longer be as involved as they were in the first season.

This applies more on Renee since Hentschel will now be just a recurring character. Since "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will move on from the Savage arc, Renee will no longer be a series regular.

She follows the footsteps of Wentworth Miller, who will be absent in the majority of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2. His character Leonard Snart sacrificed himself to save the team and take Savage down.

Unlike Renee's, however, Miller's exit has long been planned as he only signed a short-term deal. Renee's absence in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is more of a storytelling necessity.

"The bow was tied so tightly and neatly with their story in the finale, that everything we thought of felt very forced," "Legends of Tomorrow" co-creator Marc Guggenheim told Deadline.

"After 4,000 years, they were no longer under the specter of Vandal, and we felt they need some time off. Bringing them back to the team as soon as the beginning of season 2 felt premature," he added.

While two members of the crew are no longer returning for "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, there will be new ones that fans will meet in the next season.

In observance of what Guggenheim said was their "organic system... to take a break from characters," more DC icons will appear in "Legends of Tomorrow."

It is being said that the Justice Society of America, the first team of superheroes to ever grace the pages of a comic book, will be featured heavily in the new season.

The group's help will definitely be needed, especially with a much more powerful villain taking center stage in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.

"All I'll really say about the nemesis in season 2 is Vandal Savage looks like a walk in the park compared to what the Legends will be facing," Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is expected to premiere this fall.
