At the start of 2006, and particularly over the past weeks, the Langham Partnership has continued to look to develop and further its ministry as a “partner in the strategic development of majority world Christian leaders”, and the organisation testified that “This is a crucial post within the senior international management team that overseas the expansion of this world wide ministry.”
The Langham Partnership was founded by Rev John Stott, and now operates under the international leadership of Chris Wright. It is currently looking to expand its global ministry at what it calls “a crucial time of church growth around the world”.
|AD|The organisation has offices in the UK, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong as well as the USA, and in addition, holds several major global sub-regions.
Explaining the position of the ministry, Rev Stott commented, “The church is growing everywhere of course, or nearly everywhere, but it is often growth without depth. We know that immaturity is not pleasing to God, who wants his people to grow up and has given his Word to his people for that purpose. All three Langham programmes have the same ultimate objective – to raise the standards of biblical preaching by providing a range of resources to strengthen national churches in that vision.”
The Langham Partnership’s International Ministries Director, Chris Wright also expressed his delight at the new appointment, saying, “Ian Buchanan brings a striking breadth of international experience, business background, and mission involvement to the Langham Partnership at a time of rapid growth in its commitments and connections around the world. We rejoice that God has added him to the Langham team in the UK and Ireland, and anticipate a major contribution to the whole international Langham network.”
Buchanan joins the Langham Partnership after helping Scripture Gift Mission through an extensive repositioning project as the new Lifewords ministry. He is an elder at Guildford Baptist Church (The Millmead Centre) and studied in the commercial world both Engineering Metallurgy and Marketing. He has obtained a Master of Divinity from Columbia International University, USA and a Master of Theology from Trinity International University (TEDS), USA.
