Both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to be powered by Apple A9, which will be processed under Samsung's 14 nm FinFET process. With such a superior architecture, the performance delivered by the upcoming chipset will only be rivaled by a few mobile SoCs at the time. However, Apple also intends to raise the bar when resolutions are concerned.

According to a report published by MacWorld, the upcoming flagship phablet, which is known as iPhone 6s is expected to render a 1440p resolution, while the regular iPhone 6s will be radiating the 1080p resolution. Since Apple's iPhone 6 Plus features a 1080p resolution, it would only make sense for the Cupertino tech giant to incorporate displays boasting a high pixel count.

Both devices are also expected to feature an impressive 12 MP rear camera sensor, but there is no word on which company those sensors will belong to. Since Sony has the highest market share in this particular front, not to mention that the company can move around a lot of volume, Apple will most likely be tapping the Japanese tech firm. Coming back to the resolutions of both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple has invested a very large sum in JDI, which happens to be the largest display manufacturer in the world.

With a ridiculous sum of $1.7 billion USD, it can be speculated that Apple is taking huge strides in order to ensure that its iPhone 6s duo becomes the talk of the town, particularly when resolutions are concerned. Apple's WWDC, which is all set to kick off on June 8, might give more insights on what Apple has planned with its upcoming smartphones.

In terms of performance, Apple A9 is expected to overthrow the capabilities of A8X, which effortlessly zipped passed the formidability of NVIDIA Tegra K1 (with a Denver CPU).
