How the Holy Spirit Helped This Former Gay Man Escape LGBT Bondage

When Bob Fife was just a young boy, he was molested by an older boy whom he trusted. Because of that incident, he struggled with issues concerning acceptance, security and masculinity.

For years, Fife embraced the gay lifestyle even though he was raised as a Christian. It was only when his son challenged him that it was possible to experience true freedom in God that he decided to change his ways.

"I hadn't thought seriously about God and the life I had left behind for years. Seeing [my son] Sean again awoke a longing in me for things I used to think I didn't want. But more than that, I wasn't being fulfilled," he shared with Charisma News. "I was always seeking more."

Fife said at that point in his life, he had already fulfilled all of his sexual desires. What he didn't realise was that his longing was more spiritual than social or sexual. "I'd tried the latter two without restraint but ignored any kind of connection with God," he explained. "So when Sean brought God back into the picture, suddenly I began looking for all the things I needed in the right direction."

Fife sought help and reconnected with the church. Eventually, he gave up his former life with the gay community and is now actively ministering to lost souls in that community.

He even wrote about his journey in "Out: One Christian's Experience of Leaving the Gay Community," a book he hopes would serve as a wake-up call to those who experienced the same struggles as he did.

"I offer this book not as a blueprint for everyone whose life shares some of the same challenges, temptations or weaknesses as mine," said Fife, "but as a bold declaration that when God is welcomed in, anything can happen. I have seen God work in totally unexpected ways in the lives of those who surrender the broken pieces to Him."
