It's been a while since GoPro came out with a new camera, and folks are now eagerly anticipating the arrival of the company's latest offering, although when that will happen remains a big question mark.

According to MarketWatch, there had been widespread belief that the company would finally launch the GoPro Hero 5 by October of this year, although with the month having passed, that was obviously not the case.

The company's decision to hold off on releasing the GoPro Hero 5 is now being viewed as one of the primary reasons behind why their stocks have taken a tumble lately.

Still, even with reports of the company missing their earning targets by a lot, the rumors continue to suggest that GoPro will not respond by hastily releasing their new camera this year. Instead, most people now believe that the GoPro Hero 5 will be launched in 2016, although a specific window for its release has yet to be determined.

Any hope that GoPro can emerge from their recent troubles fairly well will hinge on just how well their newest offering will perform in the market.

If the rumors are to be believed, GoPro is also investing a great deal in their upcoming camera, at least in terms of what features they plan to offer along with it.

According to the Latinos Post, one of the new features that will most likely be included in the GoPro Hero 5 is the new 8K display. Previous versions of GoPro's cameras have featured 4K displays, but the 8K territory will be a first for the company.

The rumored 8K display will then be paired up with 60 frames per second (fps) to provide users with the clearest videos and pictures.

The GoPro Hero 5 is also expected to be around 40 percent lighter than its predecessor, making it even more compact and ideal to use for action shots.
