As initially reported by the Gazette Review last July, the GoPro Hero 5 was originally set to release this October but it was suddenly delayed. According to the report, the device might release by the end of 2015 or in early 2016. There are now suggestions that the former may be more likely.

According to a report from Apple Insider, the Hero4 Session has been given a $100 price drop. The compact GoPro device is now priced at $300. Coinciding with the price cut is the release of the Hero+, which is currently priced at $200. The latter is a slight update over the original Hero, adding WiFi and Bluetooth support and the ability to record 1080p videos at 60 frames per second.

The Hero+ will release this Oct. 4, which indicates the company will not immediately release another GoPro device for at least two months as they attempt to focus their marketing sales on the newest device they have on the market. This would indicate that they are prepping the GoPro Hero 5 for a holiday release sometime in December of this year.

However, it is important to note that GoPro Inc. has not yet given any official announcements at the time being and the December 2015 release window should still be considered a rumor. It is entirely possible that the company is simply slashing down prices on older models as they introduce newer ones such as the Hero+ but not necessarily the Hero 5.

According to a report from NeuroGadget, the GoPro Hero 5 will be 50 percent smaller and 40 per cent lighter than the Go Pro Hero 4. The report from Gazette Review states that the device will also be able to record Full Ultra HD or 8k resolution videos in 60 frames per second and may even feature 3D video recording with its dual lenses.

It is also rumored to be waterproof, which would remove the need of buying a separate waterproof case. It is also said to have all the necessary features implemented on all of the different models, unlike the GoPro Hero 4, which had different features for the Black and Silver versions.
