GOD TV to broadcast Global Day of Prayer live

|PIC1|Each year millions of Christians gather across the world on Pentecost Sunday for the Global Day of Prayer (GDoP) and once again, GOD TV will be bringing viewers a marathon broadcast of some of the day’s events - this time direct from Hong Kong, Africa’s Ivory Coast and Brazil.

Hosted by GOD TV founders Rory & Wendy Alec in the network’s studio in the US capital, the three-part programme will air on GOD EUROPE on Sunday 31 May with live satellite crossings to Hong Kong at 8.00 BST and Abidjan in the Ivory Coast live at 16.00. The day’s coverage concludes at 22.00 with a final programme from the city of Bela Horizonte in Brazil, recorded earlier in the day.

Global Day of Prayer 2009 is a historic broadcast for GOD TV, as it is the first time the network will broadcast from South America. It is also the first time the Ivory Coast will feature on GOD TV as the network strives to reach further into Africa.

In Hong Kong, as per last year, thousands of Chinese Christians are expected to fill the Hong Kong Stadium, where GDOP founder, Graham Power will join other prayer leaders in leading the vast crowd and GOD TV viewers in a time of repentance and intercession for the nations.

Graham will also be in the Hong Kong studio, along with GOD TV’s Bo Sander where they will chat to Rory & Wendy in Washington DC and talk to some of the Chinese prayer leaders attending the stadium event.

Global Day of Prayer started off as a National Day of Repentance in South Africa nine years ago, but rapidly grew to include more and more countries. 2009 marks a milestone for this far-reaching prayer initiative as it is the first time every nation on earth will participate - with Christians gathering in 218 nations and territories in groups of all sizes, whether it be in their homes, churches or in mass stadiums.

Wherever believers meet for the Global Day of Prayer next week, one thing will unite them: a ‘Prayer for the World’ that will be prayed by millions from where the sun rises in the East to where it sets in the West.

“Last year it is estimated that 500 million Christians prayed the same prayer on Pentecost Sunday and we encourage many more to participate this year, either by gathering with other believers in your home or church; attending a stadium event; or by watching GOD TV,” said GOD TV co-founder and CEO, Rory Alec.

“This is a unique opportunity for the Body of Christ to come together to petition the Father in Heaven for our nations.”

“Without prayer, there can be no breakthrough,” said GOD TV co-founder and director of television, Wendy Alec. “Prayer is the only thing that causes spiritual transformation and brings forth the breakthroughs we so desperately need on the earth. So don’t miss out on Global Day of Prayer 2009!”
