"Furious 7" star Tyrese Gibson knows just how powerful prayer can be, and this is why he called on fans to help pray for his mother, who was seeking medical treatment at a Los Angeles hospital for her fragile health condition.

On his personal Instagram account (@tyrese), the actor shared a photo of his hand clasped around his mother's. "Praying over every breath she takes," he writes. "Our family needs you like never before. Our beloved mother, she's all we have ... #PrayerWarriors we welcome your most sincere prayers."

All of the prayers seemed to work, because Gibson shared much later a positive update concerning his mother's health.

"My mother woke up tonight," he says. "Her eyes opened for the first time and she seen me standing there... I asked her a question and she nodded her head YES!!!!! She's still in critical condition but she's doing amazingly better."

Gibson says his mother's physical struggles have reminded him to make time for God. He says he has been "running around everyday hustling and never making time," but "God shook me to the core with this and slowed me ALL the way down."

"Sometimes you have to stand still, think, process, analyse and internalise repeat," he adds. "Father God I hear you... I hear you LOUD and clear."

"I've witnessed the power and loving presence of GOD!!!! My Mother is no longer in critical condition. Glory be thy name the lord Jesus Christ is real. I've literally witnessed a miracle... We appreciate your prayers and outpouring of LOVE!!!!!! I've never had a doubt in my heart that God was real... But it can ONLY be the power of the lord Jesus Christ that pulled her through," he shares.

"They took the tubes out, took her off of the breathing machines and today for the first time in 8 days me and my mother TALKED... Her first words were 'Hi Son.'

My mother without saying will be my date to the GRAMMYs - to God be ALL the glory," he writes.
