Franklin Graham calls Donald Trump a 'political phenomenon' that beats even March Madness

Hardly anything beats the popularity of basketball every March, but Reverend Franklin Graham has noticed something else that has caught people's attention—Trump Madness.

"It's 'trumping' everything in the news, even March Madness," he wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday. "Do you believe protesters blocking the road to his rally to stop people from getting there today? There are those who passionately support him and others who are adamantly against him."

Graham described the business magnate as a "political phenomenon" like America has never seen before, since he is the only candidate that people from various political and religious groups have agreed to disagree on.

"I don't think America has ever had a presidential candidate opposed by both establishments, Republican and Democratic, as well as the sitting president," he said. "I just hope that as a result of this unforgettable campaign season, politicians on all sides will get the message loud and clear that Americans are tired of the status quo and the corruption that has gripped Washington. Join me in praying for the 2016 elections and for the future of this nation."

Earlier, Graham actually sided with Trump with regards to his call to tighten the border against Muslim immigrants. "For some time I have been saying that Muslim immigration into the United States should be stopped until we can properly vet them or until the war with Islam is over. Donald J. Trump has been criticized by some for saying something similar," he wrote.

Paul Ryan, who is the new Speaker of the House, disagreed with what Trump suggested, saying that "such views are not what this party stands for and more importantly it's not what this country stands for."

But Graham said politicians in Washington "seem to be totally disconnected with reality."

"This is frightening," said Graham. "Our politicians are not listening to the truth — my prayer is that God will open their eyes. This affects our security and the future of our nation."
