The developer of the now leading shooter game "Fortnite" has recently revealed the mobile game version, which may have just solidified their place as the top game in the battle-royale genre. While mobile games do not usually have a cross-play with the PC servers, "Fornite" mobile will actually have support for cross-play with the PC.

It looks like developer Epic Games' innovation is centered around unity as the game on all consoles will finally be able to go against each other, and of course, as mentioned, including the mobile version. It would be interesting to see how the mobile game would feature most, if not all, of the same features of the PC version.

Aside from the mobile version cross-play with the PC, Mac and PlayStation 4 (PS4) players will also be able to join the fray. It is worth noting that Sony is not exactly open to supporting cross-play of their games to other consoles. Ironically, it is Microsoft's Xbox One that has shown more openness toward the feature but was not included by Epic.

With the crossplay feature, Epic also thought one step ahead as players do not need to make a new account for different devices. Existing "Fortnite" players can play on mobile with their accounts. "The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want," said Epic in its announcement post.

Currently, there are some who are still skeptic about a big game appearing on the smartphone. Gamers will just have to wait and see how Epic will be handling the mobile game. It could be easy to assume that their game will reach higher success if they pull it off nicely.

As for when this will be launched, unfortunately, Epic has not yet revealed a date. There are already sign-ups for the iOS version of the game which will be out during their Invite Event. Android users will have to wait a bit longer.
