Liam Payne, former One Direction singer, recently revealed he had "mixed feelings" during the band's last performance in the music industry, admitting that it was a "bittersweet feeling." The crooner, who skyrocketed to fame alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, shared his thoughts about the group and their decision to separate ways for the best.

As the 24-year-old artist prepares for his return to the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour as a solo singer, he confessed that it would be quite strange to perform alone. But then, he assured Billboard, "I really enjoy performing and I'm hoping everybody's enjoying my songs. I really can't wait — it's a great end to the year."

The singer recalled the last performance of the band at an event in 2015. He said, "It was a bittersweet feeling, because we knew we were getting a little bit of a break." He further explained, "Obviously we knew it was the end and the confusion of not knowing when it's gonna come back, what's gonna happen next. So there was a lot of mixed feelings around that thing."

Still, Payne believed that everything happened for the best, adding that he and his former bandmates enjoyed their time together. He then said, "Everybody's really enjoyed their success at the moment. I'm super proud of them all for doing their own thing and doing it in their own way."

While it appears like the One Direction singers are doing the best they can as solo artists, Louis Tomlinson previously divulged to Observer magazine that he did not want the band to go on a break. He confessed that he did not enjoy the discussion with his group regarding its future saying, "It wasn't necessarily a nice conversation. I could see where it was going."

He added, ''In the last year of One Direction I was probably the most confident I ever was. And then it was: 'OK, hiatus!'" Frustrated by the decision, he admitted that he had struggles finding his place in the band, as he felt the fandom regarded him as someone who is "forgettable, to a certain degree."

Fortunately, things are going well for Tomlinson and to the rest of the band members. Embarking on their solo careers has given them all the opportunity to explore themselves and the kind of music they preferred. In the meantime, it remains unknown whether there will be a One Direction reunion in the plate.
