Chip and Joanna Gaines from the HGTV show "Fixer Upper" seem to have it all together. That's why it was quite a surprise when Joanna revealed that they also experience hiccups in their day-to-day lives just like every other couple.

The Christian couple, who have four kids together, admitted that they're not perfect parents. Joanna told  PEOPLE that her husband actually committed a serious parenting mistake several years ago.

That was the time when they divided their child-caring duties. Chip was left in charge of their six-week-old child twice a week. One day, Joanna went for a run, leaving Chip in charge at home.

"I walked in and discovered Chip had prepared an elaborate breakfast for me. I sat down to eat, and I looked over at Drake. He was sound asleep in his swing, still wearing nothing but his diaper," Joanna recalled. "'Chip, did you take Drake to the grocery store without any clothes on?' Chip gave me a real funny look. He said, 'What?' I gave him a funny look back. 'Oh my gosh,' he said. 'I totally forgot Drake was here. He was so quiet.'"

Even though nothing bad happened to Drake, who is now 11 years old, Joanna "freaked out" when she learned what her husband did. They talked about the issue and Joanna was confident Chip wouldn't commit the same mistake again. But it turned out she was wrong.

"Several days later, I decided to go on a good long jog, trusting that Chip would not leave Drake again," Joanna said. "As I was on my way back, I saw Chip coming down the road. He rolled up to me with his window down and said, 'Baby, you're doing so good. I'm heading to work now. I've got to go.' I looked in the back, thinking, Of course he's got Drake. But I didn't see a car seat."

Joanna ran back home to Drake and was relieved to find he was okay. But after what happened, the reality star said she "didn't go for another run for the whole first year of Drake's life, and I took him to the shop with me every single day."
