Although the release of the next "Fast & Furious" movie has been delayed to 2020, actor Vin Diesel has shown his excitement over the upcoming production of the film. He announced that former "Fast & Furious" director Justin Lin and actress Jordana Brewster will be returning for the ninth installment in the film franchise.

Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the franchise, went live on Facebook last week, showing that he was shooting in a top secret set. The location looked like a large garage.

The actor was beaming with excitement when he announced that Lin will be directing the next two chapters in the storied franchise. "You wanted 9 and 10 to be incredible," he said. "We've heard your concerns about the saga and where it needs to arrive to in its final chapters."

Lin is not a stranger to the "Fast & Furious" franchise. He has directed half of the franchise's films, chapters three through six. He is the one responsible for turning the film series from street racing dramas to straight up action hits. His movies also saw the introduction of Dwayne Johnson into the franchise as Luke Hobbs. This move provided a boost to the series' popularity.

Universal Pictures has not made any official announcements, but Lin is reported to be in advanced talks with the studio to direct the next two films.

Aside from Lin, Diesel also revealed during his live video that Brewster will be returning to the franchise after being absent from the screen for the latest film, "Fate of the Furious." Brewster will reprise her role as Dominic's sister Mia. She is the on-screen wife of Brian O'Conner, who was portrayed by the late Paul Walker.

"Fast & Furious 9" was recently announced to have been pushed back to an April 10, 2020 premiere date. Johnson and Jason Statham, however, will be appearing as their "Fast & Furious" characters in a spin-off movie which is set to be released on July 26, 2019.
