'Fast and Furious 8' plot: Rumors on Paul Walker comeback not true?

Paul Walker and his CGI may not return for "Fast and Furious 8."Universal Pictures

Mia Toretto's (Jordana Brewster) return for the eighth installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise might prove to be difficult without Cody Walker, Paul's brother who stepped up to the challenge of finishing the "Furious 7."

Rumors of Mia's comeback have recently made rounds on the Internet, as many sources report that Dominic's (Vin Diesel) little sister is set to reprise her role even though husband Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is not around anymore. In the last film, the former agent chose to retire from the trade, as he wanted to spend time with his wife and son. The producers felt that it was unfair to kill the character being portrayed by Paul Walker, who died in a tragic car accident in the middle of production, in "Furious 7." Instead, they finished it with Cody as a body double and the use of computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Australian News Network reports that should Brewster come back, Paul's character may also return, most likely with the use of CGI. But after Cody's name have been removed from the list of actors in the movie's official IMDb page, this may be impossible now. According to Movie News Guide, the younger Walker is no longer on the roster for "Fast and Furious 8."

So far, Crossmap reports that the only ones who are confirmed to be part of the upcoming movie are Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jason Statham, and Kurt Russell. Rodriguez will reprise her role as Letty Ortiz-Toretto, Dom's wife, while Johnson is still Agent Luke Hobbs of the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). Statham will continue being the tough and skilled Deckard Shaw, while veteran actor Russell is Mr. Nobody.

In a recent interview with MTV, Diesel addressed rumors regarding the new characters they are set to add for "Fast and Furious 8." He jokingly warned Helen Mirren, who has previously expressed her interest to join the franchise, that she should have been careful what she wished for. Diesel's co-actor in "The Last Witch Hunter," Elijah Wood has also stated that he wanted to play Dominic Toretto's son in the new film.

"Fast and Furious 8" will hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
