Duck Dynasty Robertson family to headline 2014 Alaska State Fair in August

Alaska State Fair organizers have announced that the stars of A&E hit series "Duck Dynasty" have been added to the upcoming event's roster.

The Palmer, Alaska fair runs from August 21 to September 1, 2014, and will feature the reality stars on August 30 in an event called "The Stars of Duck Dynasty: An Evening with the Robertsons."

"Duck Dynasty" follows the Robertson family, who made their millions selling duck calls and other duck-hunting items. Phil, the patriarch of the family, will appear at the Alaskan State Fair, as well as his wife, Kay, his brother, Si, and two of his sons, Jep and Alan.

In "An Evening with the Robertsons", the Louisiana family will discuss their Duck Commander business, hit television show, and close-knit relationships.

Alaskans' reaction to the "Duck Dynasty" booking has been mixed due to personal opinions about the family's patriarch.

Phil Robertson came under fire last year after making controversial comments in GQ Magazine.

Fair Marketing Director Dean Phipps said that although there are differing feelings about the Robertson clan, it is undeniable that many Alaskans enjoy the reality show.

"We're the Alaska State Fair, which means we represent all Alaskans," Phipps told the Associated Press.

"And if there's anything that all Alaskans have it's an opinion— and it's all not the same... there's a ton of them that are fans of 'Duck Dynasty.' "

Phipps also reminded dissenters that fairgoers do not have to see the Robertsons, if that is their choice.

"It's not something that's right there at the gate when you walk in," he said. "You have to actually make a choice to go."

Also appearing at the Alaskan State Fair are country singer Brett Eldredge, alternative metal band Seether, country duo Thompson Square, rock bands Tesla and Three Days Grace, and a cappella group Pentatonix.
