Chinese Pastor Convicted of Bible Selling to Get Second Trial

|TOP|Chinese Pastor Cai Zhouwa, who had been convicted of “illegal business operation” after he distributed Bibles to Christians in China will undergo a second trial, according to China Aid Association.

The First Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing will hold its first formal examination regarding his second trial on Wednesday, according to a report received by Pastor Cai’s sister-in-law less than 48 hours before the scheduled date.

The report states that three well known rights lawyers will be representing Cai – Gao Zhishen, Dr. Teng Biao, and Zhang Xingshui.

China Aid Association also reports that the presiding judge in the case has denied a request by Dr. Biao to allow that lawyers be present in court during the examination.

Dr. Biao told the judge that it would be illegal for his client to be questioned without his lawyers present.

In the past Cai had already been imprisoned for more than a year before he received a three year sentence for the Bible distribution.
