One of Jemarcus Brady's responsibilities as a line cook at Gino's Restaurant in Baton Rouge is slicing, seasoning, and sautéing eggplants. After slicing into one eggplant on Monday, he noticed something amazing.

"When you sliced into it, the pattern showed from the seeds that were forming in the inside the letters G-O-D as God. I couldn't think of anything. I just had to tell somebody to come here and look at it," he told WAFB Baton Rouge on Tuesday.

Brady's co-workers and the restaurant's co-owner, Gino Marino, took photos and marveled at the extraordinary slice.

Marino said he had been in business nearly 50 years, and has never seen such an occurrence.

"You could cut one million eggplants and you'd probably never see that again, it's that rare," he told WAFB.

"God is within us and He has different ways of showing it in our lives, and this is just one way of showing it."

Brady said that the Lord has gotten him through difficult times, including raising four children on a limited income. He took the astonishing occurrence as a message from God.

"He's showing me that 'hey, I'm real' and that's the only thing I can depend on," he said.

Beyond a renewed faith in God, Brady is not sure if there was a deeper message for him.

"I don't know what it means. All I know is it tells me 'hey, He's real' and there's nothing that can change my mind about that."

Marino told The Times-Picayune that the astounding eggplant slice was wrapped in cellophane in placed in the freezer. He cautioned that the slice turn brown if exposed to the air.

Gino's Restaurant is located on I-10 and College Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
