"Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon might have earned raves and admiration for making yet another blockbuster Marvel movie.

However, he drew the ire of his conservative fans when he came out to express financial support for the maligned abortion service provider Planned Parenthood.

His fans got so angry that they even threatened to burn down DVD copies of his works such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly," according to Raw Story.

The issue all started the day before Christmas when Planned Parenthood shared a tweet: "Start your first monthly donation to Planned Parenthood now & Joss Whedon will chip in $50 in your name." The tweet even included a link to a page that says Whedon is willing to donate up to $100,000 in $50 increments for each person who decides to do the same for the health organisation.

Critics weren't happy with the announcement since they strongly believe Planned Parenthood is responsible for the deaths of countless unborn babies.

Netizens were furious at Whedon for his association with Planned Parenthood. "Thanks for letting me know to avoid the movies of a baby-killing supporter," someone comments.

Another writes, "I didn't know Joss Whedon wasn't content killing your favorite characters... He needs to go after babies, too."

The criticisms kept on getting worse after that. "I think Joss Whedon is a genius. Didn't know he was an evil one. Sorry but we're done," someone says.

Others were sarcastic: "Which baby part(s) can I get for $100? And can you get Joss Whedon to autograph them?"

"Contribute $50 and you can get your own intact calvarium encased in glass! For $100 get a full fetus! All in easy auto deductions," a snarky Twitter user writes.

Others even angrily called the director a "gun grabber and advocate of mass murder for fun and profit."
