The production for Marvel Studios' "Ant-Man and the Wasp" has begun in Atlanta with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) suiting up on set.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp" will be the first Marvel movie that will feature a female co-lead. The debut of The Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is in some way foreshadowing the coming of a more powerful female superhero in the form of Captain Marvel.

Lilly and her character, Hope van Dyne, will be taking a more pronounced role in the upcoming movie since the plot of the sequel will not be straying away from the source material.

Like in the first movie, Rudd has once again co-written the script with Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer along with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Going into the Quantum Realm to retrieve Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp, will be one of the plots of the sequel. This also means that Michael Douglas will be reprising his role as one of Marvel Comics' smartest man, Hank Pym. Janet van Dyne will be played by Michelle Pfieffer, which was announced in the San Diego Comic Com last July.

Nothing more about the plot was revealed, but set photos for the third version of the Ant-Man suit and the new version of the Wasp suit have surfaced.

In one of the movie's end credit scene, Hank Pym finally revealed to his daughter that he and her mother were working on the upgrade of the Wasp suit but never really got the chance to finish due to the Quantum Realm incident.

The suit in the scene indeed appeared to be halfway done and closely resembled the comic version of the Wasp with the golden-yellow accents and streaks of red. Lilly's suit looks more to be a modernized and militarized version, but the overall blue theme of the suit was still retained.

Rudd's new suit almost looks the same from the one he wore in "Captain America Civil War," but this time going for a black and red theme with less of the silver accents.

Fan-favorite Michael Pena will also be returning to reprise his role as Luis who gets distracted when telling his stories.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" is set to open in cinemas on July 6, 2018.
