Around 35 members of the Anglican Communion Working Group on Theological Education (TEAC) are currently gathered in South Africa for a major week-long meeting.

|TOP|The second plenary meeting of the Working Group, which includes representatives from most of the Anglican Provinces, will develop the work it has done since its first meeting in June 2004 and make specific proposals with suggestions for implementation.

The meeting will also have a special focus on theological education in Africa and will include some joint sessions with ANITEPAM, the African Network of Institutions of Theological Education Preparing Anglicans for Ministry.

ANITEPAM’s Corresponding Secretary Mike McCoy will address TEAC on the teaching of mission studies in theological education in Southern Africa, as well as serve as chaplain during the meeting.

Archbishop Rowan Williams sent his good wishes to the meeting, commenting: ‘I trust you will have a stimulating and fruitful consultation which will significantly move us forwards towards coherent and workable proposals for the future.

The meeting at Kempton Park Conference Centre near Johannesburg will end 21 January, after which ANITEPAM will hold its Governing Council.

The eight-member Governing Council will meet from 21 to 23 January in Johannesburg where it will focus on the development and use of electronic communications in theological education in Africa.

The GC will also assess the future of ANITEPAM in view of current tensions within the wider Anglican Communion and among some African Provinces.
