Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release date: Update spotted on Motorola XT912A, Nexus 5; Set to bring new-look dialer

Smartphone users are keeping their hawk eyes on the web for the update of Android 4.4.3 KitKat and it is getting tantalizingly close as more images have leaked ahead of its official roll out.

A GFXBench graphics benchmark shows the Motorola XT912A model with OS 4.4.3. It's possible this is Motorola's forthcoming Moto X+1 device and that it will be running Android 4.4.3 KitKat out of the box.

According to the GFXBench benchmark, the Motorola XT912A will have a 5.2 inch, 1920x1080 resolution display, be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, and have a 12mp camera.

Meanwhile, TrustedReviews.com is reporting a leaked image of Android 4.4.3 taken from a Google employee's Nexus 5 device.

If the leaked images are correct, the update will include a freshly designed dialer app.

The leaked image reveals changes to the contacts list, incorporating photos alongside the contact names rather than just plain text.

The style is similar to the Gmail app, with large colored squares for the contacts and first initial in large type where there is no picture for the contact.

That seems to confirm what was accidentally tweeted by @googlenexus earlier in the week about the dialer app being added to the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for Nexus devices.

The image was accidentally tweeted to a customer - oops! - and revealed a switch from the dull grey to a warmer blue in the action bar.

It's likely we'll see the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update start rolling out over the next few weeks.
