Two men in court over organist murder

Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of church organist Alan Greaves.

Mr Greaves, 68, died three days after the attack in Sheffield on Christmas Eve.

The father of four had suffered severe head injuries when he was attacked as he made his way to midnight mass.

Jonathan Bowling, 22, and Ashley Foster, 21, appeared before Sheffield magistrates and were remanded to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 18 January.

The short hearing was attended by Mr Greaves' widow, Maureen.

Two other men arrested in connection with the attack last month have been bailed pending further inquiries.
