With a new year comes new opportunities to be successful. Don't you just wish you could achieve greater things this coming year?

The Bible tells us that God's plans for us are always for our good. He plans what is best for us. He desires to give us hope and a future. If we knew God, we will trust in Him, simply because He is good and trustworthy – He will fulfill His promises.

That said, I want to share with you a few things that you need to have in order for you to see success in the coming year. We understand that God promised all that is good to us, but we also have to understand that we have a part to play if we want to see good things happen to our lives.

Here are some of the most important habits you'll need to develop if you want to be successful in 2018.

1) Put your faith in Christ and take courage in Him

If you want to see greater things happen, you'll need a greater measure of courage and faith. God always calls His people to have faith in Him and be courageous.

As His people, we are not given the spirit of fear but the Spirit of power, of love, and of discipline. Let's stand on the truth of God's word.

2) Read your Bible daily, and meditate on and speak God's word all the time

God's instructions are given to us for our own sakes. When we keep the word of God in our hearts, we are enabled to live pure lives away from misery and wrong decisions. Constant meditation on the word of God also renews our minds, replacing all sorts of wrong mindsets with God's own principles and character.

Let's all develop a hunger and longing for more of God's word.

3) Be obedient to the Word of God

Lastly and most importantly, we should obey the word of God. The Bible tells us that we should not only hear the word, but obey it.

Faith comes from hearing the word of God, but faith is exercised when we obey. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said that if we truly love Him, we will obey His commands.

Be prepared for success

To wrap this all up, let me just summarize the three habits we need to develop in order to see success this coming year: put our faith in Christ, seek to know Him, and do our best to obey His word always.

It's that simple.

"Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."" (Joshua 1:6-9)
