The World Day of Prayer for Women is Coming

The World Day of Prayer will be observed ecumenically on the 5th of March by women throughout the world.

The WDP is a prayer movement augurated and carried out by women to reaffirm their faith in Jesus Christ, and to share hopes, fears, joys, sorrows, opportunities and needs with God and one another.

The WDP is observed internationally and ecumenically in over 1,000 different languages in the more than 170 countries and regions, with a wide list of participating denominations and church groups, including the Baptist Church, Church of Scotland, Church of the Nazarene, Congregational Federation, Greek Orthodox Church, Methodist Church, Religious Society of Friends, Roman Catholic Church, Salvation Army, Scottish Episcopal Church, United Reformed Church and Assemblies of God Churches.

The WDP is an annual event held on the first Friday of March every year. On that day women are enheartened to "become aware of the whole world and no longer live in isolation, to be enriched by the faith experience of Christians of other countries and cultures, to take up the burdens of other people and to become aware of their talents and use them in the service of society."
