He has Clothed me

10 November 2009

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness…

Isaiah 61:10, NKJ
Notes

The other day I saw a pretty T-shirt in a shop. As I looked closer, I saw it had ‘sinner’ written across the top in silver beading. I didn’t buy it!

When I came before the Lord, in prayer later, I thought of this T-shirt. No matter how good we’ve been, or what great things we achieve, when we come into the place of His presence our true hearts are wide open before the Lord. He sees my motives and exactly what I’m really like. He sees my fallen nature in its entirety. Yet I can just be honest and come empty handed, praising Him with a heart of a sinner saved by grace.

For although He knows my heart, He’s bought for me a robe of righteousness that covers all my sin, and when He looks on me, He sees that I’m covered with the blood of Jesus that was shed on Calvary. Now I can do the good works that He’s planned for me, not to gain any right standing or credit for myself, but because of a grateful heart of love.

Jesus ministered healing, forgiveness and restoration to many and their way of life was completely changed. Jesus still ministers in the same way today and people are finding a new freedom in Christ and wearing ‘their new robes’. Many of those who’ve been healed, restored and forgiven by Jesus now spend their lives serving Him and others out of grateful, overflowing hearts. If ever I bought the T-shirt I would have to add these words to it ‘saved by grace’.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; For out of his infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth, and giveth and giveth again. (Annie Johnson Flint).

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You that Your Grace is great enough to cover all our sins when we repent, whatever those sins might be. Thank You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
