Youth Workers Prepare Wide-Ranging Conferences for 2006

Conferences for youth workers “giving the opportunity to celebrate, learn and equip” as a youth worker.

The 2006 Methodist youth workers conference will kick off 30th January – 1st February 2006, in Woodbrooke Quaker Centre in Birmingham.

Running with the theme “Sustaining the Journey,” this year’s speakers will include the Principal of the YMCA George Williams College Mary Wolfe, Director of the Oxford Centre for Youth Ministry Dr. Sam Richards, and Director of NCH’s Director of Children’s services Hugh Thornbery.

In last year’s conference, Methodist youth workers came together to share practice, network and explore the theme “roles, responsibilities and dilemmas.”

Throughout the conference there were a variety of workshops ranging from detached youth work, sexuality, being accountable, managing volunteers, film and theology, make poverty history, spirituality and working with teenage parents.

In other news, the Youthwork the conference 2006 dates have recently been announced, for 10th -12th November in Southport, and 17th-19th November in Eastbourne.

Youthwork the conference, which garnered 1500 delegates last year, will be focusing on the theme “Infinite Possibilities - Reimagining mission to the digital generation” this year.

Scheduled for the conference is the usual mix of main sessions, seminars, receptions, exhibition area, “giving the opportunity to celebrate, learn and equip” as a youth worker, according to the website.
