Over one hundred young people have scored with the “Give A Kid A Goal” initiative, as a charity graduation ceremony rewards their achievements next week.

On Tuesday, 120 youngsters will receive gold medals and scrolls at Cathcart Old Parish Church in Glasgow after passing the global citizenship course run by the charity Glasgow The Caring City.

The scheme, spearheaded by chief executive officer Rev Neil Galbraith, taught pupils about international aid and development work, giving them a better grasp of the plight of others around the globe as well as targeting what they could do to make the world a better place.

A number of graduates will deliver special powerpoint presentations to show what they have learned, with the top performer winning a multimedia studio for their school and a trophy.

Awards will be dished out by invited mentors from the world of politics, the police, education, commerce and entertainment.

The guest of honour for the evening is Willie Docherty, managing director of City Building.

Mr Docherty was behind the re-introduction of apprenticeship opportunity schemes that are now enjoyed today by young people in the city of Glasgow.
