Young man shot dead in Sheffield

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a young man was shot dead in Sheffield.

Officers were alerted about the incident in the Spital Hill area of the city at around 1:45 p.m., South Yorkshire Police said on Friday.

A police spokeswoman said detectives did not believe it was a random attack, although their investigations were still at an early stage.

Police appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
