For weeks, "The Young and the Restless" soap opera has been dropping clues about the return of Adam Newman. Chelsea's dead husband is very much alive and has recently made a move that may lead his wife to discovering the truth.

While Y&R fans know that Adam Newman may be returning to the show, they still have no clue who will play the role.

Adam Newman was played by Michael Muhney before exiting the show last January. Muhney's character was part of an explosion, which was believed to have killed him. Now Adam Newman is returning to Genoa City with the story of how he survived.

Since Muhney officially exited the show, someone familiar will be taking his place.

According to TV Guide's Michael Lohan, it will be Justin Hartley who will be the new and evil Adam Newman. Hartley was recently seen in ABC's "Revenge" as Victoria Grayson's son, Patrick.

"I'm so pumped about joining 'Y&R'," Hartley told TV Guide. "I watch it all the time and can't wait to get in there and get my hands dirty!

"I have great respect for daytime drama. I love the branding. I love the style. What can I say? I love good soap!"

Hartley also shared that after meeting with CBS Daytime Senior Vice President Angelica McDaniel and Y&R executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, he is very excited about his new role.

"The powers that be are smart, lovely people with kind hearts," Hartley said. "It'll be wonderful going to work knowing I'm really wanted.

"It's all about story and character with me and I don't care if the job is on daytime or primetime or the web. Hey, give me a good character and someone to listen and I'll do my acting on a street corner."

Hartley, indeed, has admiration for the number one soap opera in the U.S. today. He said that he will be with an exceptional acting company, which is actually very good for him.

"There's no period of adjustment with these people and that's daunting," Hartley said. "I don't just have to be fantastic, I have to be fantastic right now!"

While it is unsure when Hartley will make a debut on the show, this news definitely sealed the deal that Genoa City will be welcoming a returning trouble maker.
